Dr. Elizabeth “Liz” Benz PT, DPT, CMTPT is a physical therapist and owner of Happy To Help Physical Therapy.

Liz received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland and went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. Additionally, she has an advanced certification in Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling, which can work wonders in getting rid of stubborn muscle knots!

Liz first attended physical therapy at 14 years old after sustaining running related stress fractures. From that moment on, she knew unequivocally that she wanted to become a Physical Therapist. Whether it was volunteering at PT clinics while in high school, to becoming the owner of her own practice, and everything in between – she has seen physical therapy from all angles and has an undeniable love for what this profession has to offer.

Liz is passionate about helping people fully recover from injury, pain, weakness, muscle tightness, stiffness, instability and postural deficits. She is dedicated to ensuring that you are able to live your strongest, healthiest and happiest life. Once you meet her, you will instantly see that she really is happy to help!

Happy to Help PT is an orthopedic physical therapy practice, which means that we are trained to treat people of all ages experiencing any pain or injury related to bones, muscles, ligaments or tendons. 

From sports injuries to generalized weakness – we are here and we are happy to help!

Happy to Help PT is an out of network provider, which means that we do not directly interact with or bill insurance companies. Our services are provided at a flat-rate fee, in which payment is made in-full at time of your appointment. At the end of each session, you will be given a detailed superbill/invoice/receipt via your patient portal, which you can in turn submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. 

We accept all major credit cards. Payment can also be made with an HSA or FSA card, as physical therapy services are a form of medical expenses. 

If you plan on submitting for reimbursement, we strongly recommend that you contact your insurance company prior to your first visit. Please note that we do not participate with Medicare or Medicaid.

Prior to your first session, there are a few pages of digital paperwork to fill out, which should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Once your initial examination is confirmed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to register a Happy To Help Physical Therapy online account and complete the required documents. 

This online account will also act as your patient portal. It will show any scheduled upcoming appointments, custom home exercises prescribed by your physical therapist, and have your invoice(s) available after each session for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. 

Nope! Both the state of Virginia and Washington DC have passed laws that allow for patients to attend physical therapy via “direct access”- which means you do not need a physician's prescription or referral to attend PT! 

You will be treated by a Doctor of Physical Therapy, who will perform skilled testing during your initial examination in order to help provide you with a diagnosis, if applicable.
